HOLIDAY MAGIC IN NEW YORK                          Saturday, December 6

The sights, sounds and pulse of the Big Apple at the holidays, with dazzling Broadway shows, beautifully decorated windows of New York’s biggest stores, the trees of Rockefeller Center and the Metropolitan Museum, and major exhibitions at some of the world’s greatest museums all combine to create a memorable holiday treat for the whole family.  Take a bite of one of our 2 Big Apple Christmas treats on December 6 to experience the magic of Christmas in New York.               

 

The Shopping Apple: For those who wish to shop, sightsee, or select their own Broadway entertainment or museum exhibits, our Shopping Apple combines independence with the convenience of group travel, right from the center of Barrington or from the Park & Ride lot on Airport Road, Warwick.  No specific plans?  We’ll provide suggestions, with information on the latest in museum exhibitions, shows, special events, restaurant tips, maps and more, prior to the trip.  Barrington departure at 7:00 a.m., followed by a Warwick pickup at 7:20; return by 11:00 P.M.

FEE: $53 adults; $3 reduction senior citizens and students under 18.  Includes motorcoach transportation, and driver tip, maps and NYC information, and BCS escort.

 

Our Christmas Apple includes excellent orchestra seating at peak time to a 4:30PM performance of the world-famous Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular—-America’s favorite holiday tradition. Be prepared to be astounded, as the 2008 Radio City Christmas Spectacular will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that redefines “Spectacular” from the moment you step inside the theater. The show is re-imagined with exciting twists on cherished traditions plus brand-new show-stopping scenes. Santa will fly high above the stage through a winter blizzard and unveil his mesmerizing 25-foot tall warehouse of toys, right before your eyes! And at the heart of it all is the meaningful and poignant story about the magic and warmth of Christmas, concluding with the inspirational live nativity.  Before the show, there will be ample time to shop, view the creatively decorated windows along Fifth Avenue, watch the skaters at the fabulous Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, or visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral or a museum. (Suggestions for free time will be available). After the Christmas Spectacular, have dinner on your own or opt to have a delicious, 4-course dinner with choice of entrée with the group at Domenico, before departure for home.

 

Join us at this magnificent theatre for the holiday thrill of a lifetime.  Departure from New York will be right after dinner.  Morning departure from Barrington at 7:00 A.M. will be followed by a Warwick pick-up at 7:20; return by 10:30 P.M.

FEE: $160. Includes peak time show ticket with excellent seating in the orchestra, motorcoach, BCS escort and driver tip.  A deposit of $100 will hold a reservation until Nov. 3, when the balance will be due. Also available: optional 4-course dinner, with choice of entrée, at Domenico @ $38; children’s menu available @ $27. The cost of dinner may be included in your final payment, but the dinner reservation should be made with your deposit or shortly thereafter.

Jug-Band Christmas

A new musical based on the beloved children’s book of the same title by Russell and Lillian Hoban, and the Jim Henson movie starring the famous Muppets!

 

As Christmas approaches the world of Frogtown Hollow, Emmet Otter and his Ma can only dream of buying each other gifts.  So when a Christmas Eve talent contest is announced, both secretly enter hoping to win the prize money.  In a heartwarming twist on “The Gift of the Magi,” Emmet and Ma risk all they have and end up with the greatest grand prize of all.  Featuring a lovable mix of actors, puppet characters from The Jim Henson Company, and a toe-tapping score, it’s a classic holiday musical for all ages!  We’ll have a 3-course luncheon at the Gelston House prior to our 2:00 PM matinee.

ADULTS:  $115.00, CHILDREN UNDER 12:  $90.00

Includes motorcoach transportation, 3-course luncheon with choice of entrée, orchestra seating at the matinee, BCS escort and driver tip.

DAY TRIP to OKEMO!                                                        Wednesday, January 28

                                  An In-Service Day in Barrington Public Schools!                                       

Enjoy an exciting day of New England skiing as we travel to the beautifully groomed slopes of one of the best-rated ski and snow-board resorts in the area.  Families, single adults and students are all welcome on this In-Service Day outing to Ludlow, Vermont, for a great day of skiing or snow-boarding... unaccompanied students* are welcome, but must have written parental permission to attend.  Permission slips will be mailed home with trip confirmation letters and must be brought to the motorcoach, signed by parent or guardian. Early morning departure from Barrington; depart ski area at 4:30 P.M. and return to Barrington approximately 9:00. Participants may bring lunch or purchase food at the mountain.  Optional group ski lessons are available; call BCS if interested.

 

DEADLINE to register is Friday, January 16 – no exceptions! Take advantage of our great day-trip pricing – less than the cost of a full-day lift ticket if you traveled to Okemo on your own!

 

FEE: $70. Fee includes round-trip motorcoach transportation, full-day lift ticket and New England Action Sports’ adult escort.  Individuals wishing to take a 2-hour morning group lesson should call BCS for prices.  Those wishing to ride the bus only and not ski are welcome to join us for $40. per person.

 

*Students younger than 12 are welcome on all day trips, but must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.

An Alpine Adventure – Skiing in Innsbruck, Austria                                                                                                                                                         February 14-22, 2009

Why not try a European ski vacation for a pleasant change of scenery?  The beautiful Austrian Alps are our destination for this 9-day ski trip that coincides with February school vacation. A winter holiday in Austria sums up a vision of villages covered in a white blanket of snow surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. Many visitors to Innsbruck come just to experience Austria in the winter, and skiing certainly plays a big part in the attractions. Whether it’s snowboarding, skiing, world championship ski races or winter tourism, Innsbruck has something for everyone.

 

With one of the largest and best-regarded ski schools in Austria, Innsbruck  is a perfect spot to learn new skills or brush up on old techniques.  And for families, it’s a perfect place for all generations to get out onto the ski slopes.  Our reasonable rates will put the declining dollar fears to rest, as your European ski vacation includes round-trip flight from Boston, airport-hotel transfers, 7 nights’ accommodations at Hotel Graur Bar, tour escort, and full breakfast and dinner daily. Lift passes are included, but we have included pricing for non-skiiers so that individuals can take time for some local sightseeing.

FEES: $1599 per person double occupancy; single supplement is $100.  A $400 per person deposit will reserve space until the balance due date, in mid-January. Non-skiing price is $1499. per person double occupancy.

CANDY COTTAGES – PARENT/CHILD WORKSHOP

You can complete a “graham cracker house” in a fraction of the time it takes to make one of gingerbread – it’s a lot easier and looks just as nice on your holiday table or mantle. Join this ever-popular fun workshop and learn the basic techniques of this project while you create a house of your own design with materials completely provided by the instructor - decorative candies, icing and graham crackers for the house.  The deadline to register for this course is November 21. One 2-hour session.  Although designed as a Parent/Child workshop, unaccompanied adults may register for $30.

Fee: $38 per Parent/Child pair includes ONE cottage, extra cottages $15 each, plus $5 per each additional child in family.  Includes tuition and all supplies.

PARENT/CHILD PIZZA CLASS

In this fun way to spend quality time with each other, parents and children will make 3 different types of pizza, each one as delectable as the next!  Two will be entree pizzas, and one will be a dessert variety.  The dough will be pre-made to get the most out of class time.  Be prepared for a “hands-on” class full of pizza-making know-how for the whole family!  Chef Katie Roberts, who was trained in professional cooking, traditional Italian cuisine, Tuscan cooking and Mediterranean cuisine and diet at Apicius Culinary Institute in Florence, Italy, will be our instructor.  One 2-hour session.  This class is for ages 8 and up with a parent or other responsible adult.
